“Do you think we might be going the wrong way??” I yell-shivered over the wind and rain.

At least I brought my jacket. I thought, eyeing Jake’s knuckles on the handle bars, splotchy-red and freezing.

As the rain began, and I began questioning whether our scooter was going to make it up the next hill. We realized, we should have hit Hvar by now. Or at least certain landmarks along the way.

When we breached the top of the mountain, pulling into the first turn we could. As if a sign from the heavens, sunlight to began beaming through the clouds.

We sloshed off the soaked scooter, and stood to face the rays. Soaking them up like salamanders in the sun.

Then we took a breath, and took in our surroundings.

As the rain fully cleared, and mist began crawling along the valleys and sea, we roamed around. Warming up our bodies, as we explored the ancient ruins we had stumbled upon.

We had taken a wrong turn. The moment was caused by such a simple, common, accident. Getting lost.

Looking back at that trip to Croatia, we were intentional. We had created amazing experiences for ourselves.

We wandered around the ancient walls of Dubrovnik, swam with swans at the Krka waterfall, and stayed in Diocletian’s Palace in Split.

But these memories, the accidents, are the ones we treasure and reminisce upon the most.
